SUBJECT:  CIRCULAR NO 4436 — RSA EARTHQUAKE APPEAL

On Saturday 4 September 2010 a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Canterbury with devastating effect.

Reports from RSAs throughout Canterbury reveal that in the main RSAs and RSA members have managed to “get through”, although some have suffered damage to their buildings and homes.  The coming days, weeks and months will be a further challenge and we are examining how we can assist our RSAs and members as well as the wider community in Canterbury.

As a start, and with our motto of “People Helping People”, RNZRSA believes that it is important to support the citizens of Christchurch and Canterbury in their hour of need, and with this in mind we invite RSAs and RSA members, outside Canterbury District, to make a donation to this Appeal.

It’s about the organisation of the Red Poppy putting all its strength behind the “Red” of Canterbury and to complete the circle all donations received will be given to the Red Cross for distribution. Your help is important in restoring the economy and lifestyle of this proud RSA District and Province of New Zealand.

Please send your cheque made payable to: ‘RNZRSA Earthquake Appeal’ and post to RNZRSA National Office, PO Box 27248, Marion Square, Wellington 6141.
