On Marching out of Cadets I enjoyed several postings including Waiouru, Fort Caughtly and Papakura. Was lucky enough to get one of the last postings to Singapore between 1981 and 1983. Left the army in 1984 and after a brief stint with the Hyatt Kingsgate hotel in Auckland, left for London with another ex cadet, Bernie Schou. Spent the next year and a half working at the London Hilton in Park Lane and in between work travelling around the Continent. Was offered a contract in South Africa in 1986 (still the bad old days) and returned to England after 18 months, this time for a year of travel. Returned to Sth Africa in 1989 via the Far East for a few months. Have been in Sth Africa ever since and have traveled extensively around Africa. I now own and operate my own restaurant in Johannesburg (we like to think we are one of the best in the city) and a consultancy business on the side. I continue to travel as often as possible - although usually work related. Recently just completed two Food Promotions for the SA government and a catering contract for the All Africa Games in Nigeria. I am married with two teenage kids (who keep me busy). Enjoy the sunny weather but always support the All Blacks and any Super 12 NZ Team. Particularly enjoyed the drumming the Black Caps gave the Proteas in February 2004. knuckey2001@yahoo.co.uk
