Spent 11 years and two months in the worlds finest Army, I retired on the Friday and started Police college on the Sunday. 1 year as a cadet was 1 year too long and ten years as a cook was 9 or ten too long, but I have some great memories and met some great people who still influence how I live my life today. I am married to Lisa (Peteru) Kennedy and have two daughters, Jordyn 4, and Summer 19 months, Contact me on Roblis@paradise.net.nz Best thing about Cadets is the Motto,( "Fortune Favours The Brave" ) Love it; always have; always will.
G.L. Keys (McKinnon class)
I started my Army career at RF Cadet Schools at the age of 16; it was not an easy time for me and had left a lasting impression on my life throughout my Army career. The problem was young boys carrying authority without the maturity to go with it. Some say it was good character development and others, well, would not write about it. The best thing the Army did was close down the organisation. I got out of the Army in 1987 and am enjoying life to the max. Have two lovely children and a wife who is a lawyer. Me I am into computing and involved with serving the community.

Driving Interstate rigs to keep busy, and still have my 1st wife attached (32 yrs now). Left the Army in 2000 after a fair innings and would have to say clubbies was the best part of it. If you come knocking I drink XXX gold and your welcome unless you're gay. Anyone knowing where Richard Howley from B Coy is let me know please ( in WA ) I think Hi to Dean Whanga.

After Cadets in 1988 I was posted to Linton Camp as a Movement Operator, In 1990 I left the Army and got into the horticulture industry. This took me to Raetihi where I ran a floriculture property, and started my own part time business. I then tried my hand at market gardening, running a pack house Due to personal situations changing I moved back to Palmerston North for a while and now I am settled in Wanganui. I have been here around 5 years and am self employed in the Insurance Industry. I was a late starter in getting married and having children but got there in the end and now have a wonderful wife and 2 lovely daughters to keep me honest. It is now 20 yrs since my brief Army career (although I was an Army brat all my life) but on reflection I credit my year as an RF Cadet for being so driven in what I do. A Coy had the forwards and we had the backs. Waiouru was the first tima a lot of us got to experience snow. Also had a trip up Ruapehu where we learned to stop the quick way (fall over). Played Softball and Rugby. Went to St Stevens and Whakatane High (olds school) for Softball. Unfortunately we came second to Whakatane that game. Tipene tied with us in the Rugby that year and all the 1st 15 got 2 eggs for tea that night. Had a great time there and look forward to catching up at the 2008 reunion. No reira kia ora koutou katoa

Anyone interested can email on sierrasierra@hotmail.com . Later. Now known as John Gray

On Marching out of Cadets I enjoyed several postings including Waiouru, Fort Caughtly and Papakura. Was lucky enough to get one of the last postings to Singapore between 1981 and 1983. Left the army in 1984 and after a brief stint with the Hyatt Kingsgate hotel in Auckland, left for London with another ex cadet, Bernie Schou. Spent the next year and a half working at the London Hilton in Park Lane and in between work travelling around the Continent. Was offered a contract in South Africa in 1986 (still the bad old days) and returned to England after 18 months, this time for a year of travel. Returned to Sth Africa in 1989 via the Far East for a few months. Have been in Sth Africa ever since and have traveled extensively around Africa. I now own and operate my own restaurant in Johannesburg (we like to think we are one of the best in the city) and a consultancy business on the side. I continue to travel as often as possible - although usually work related. Recently just completed two Food Promotions for the SA government and a catering contract for the All Africa Games in Nigeria. I am married with two teenage kids (who keep me busy). Enjoy the sunny weather but always support the All Blacks and any Super 12 NZ Team. Particularly enjoyed the drumming the Black Caps gave the Proteas in February 2004. knuckey2001@yahoo.co.uk
