D.J. Tairi (Elliot class)

Good to see a few familiar names from my class on this section, like Pete Wehi, Neil Wren, Mark Te-Ahuahu and George Topia. I served 23 years and did most of that time in RNZEME (now RNZALR Workshops) units as an auto parts supplier. I ended up as the RQ of 1 RNZIR before calling it quits. My hi-lights would had to have been the overseas postings which I was fortunate to get on many throughout my career in particular to Singapore and Somalia. I then did a short stint as a corrections officer and decided to up stakes with the family and go to Thailand (my wifes Thai). We've been here since Jan 03. I'm currently teaching English (go figure) at a high school here full time and we have a bit of land where we farm cows and grow oranges. Life's good but I miss the simple things in life like fish 'n' chips and pies. Rugby's on tap as I've got the local version of Sky, if you were wondering. My wife Sirin and I have 2 children.

J. (TK) Te Kowhai (Elliot class)

Hello former clubbies. Have visited this site a number of times over the years thought I'd best enter a profile. Graduated to RNZEME after the hectic year that was RFCS. Various posting including 1 fld wksp. Waiouru wksp. Corp changed to RNZIR in 87 Primarily to get a posting to Sigapore before it closed. Grunt corp training was just about as intense as rfcs. But that certainly helped in dealing with it. Throughly enjoyed my grunt time. Seconded back to RNZEME on completion of Singapore posting. Made the dizzying heights of Cpl. After a couple of sideways postings could see nothing much was going to happen for me so left in 1994. Married to Kim. We have two daughters. We live on the Goldcoast in Aust. jtk.kt@bigpond.com. Fortes Fortuna Juvat.

Tommo Thompson (Hanson class)

Had 2 yrs in clubbies which served me wll in life. and later in the green machine. Loved the hard exercise and going bush and made mates that you can't find in civvy street. Left the Army after 7.1/2 yrs and followed my dream of being a diver in the oilfields of Asia. Did that and the same thing off the coast of Taranaki. I've tried lots of things often drawing on the things we all learned in the military to get the job done. I have 6 kids, 4 grandkids (and 1 on the way) so far. I am working as a conservation contractor and loving it. Thinking back to the 2 yrs in clubbies, we had a lot of hard yakka but a whole lot of fun together that I will always remember. email forestprotector@xtra.co.nz
